After the Curb system suffers a major tech failure drivers are demanding the right to use what ever system they like and the right to use back up hand held machines of their own personal choice.

Earlier today, Taxi drivers were complaining that they authorised Curb system fitted in their cabs was t working. They also said the help line was also down. There have also been reports that this system crash was not only in London, drivers in Glasgow say their Curb system has been down all day as well.

Under TfL current regulations, you cannot work unless you have a working authorised rear fitted credit card system, and they have stipulated in the past, if you system isn’t working then you can’t carry on plying for hire and must stop working. That also stipulate that under the conditions of fitness, no hand held backup machines are unauthorised and cannot be used by drivers to clear credit card payments.

TfLTPH actually expect drivers to cease working till their rear fitted machine is fixed and working properly.

But is it right that drivers can be stopped from earning a living?

Especially as this weekend is a bank holiday and the worst scenario is that drivers could be out of work till Tuesday.

I have been informed in a tweet from Cabvision on Twitter, "TfL have started a review of the Credit Card conditions".

Cabvision went onto say, "Stopping people earning a living due to a supply failure is nonsense as no tech is faultless".

Also been informed that the review took place this week, but our representative orgs have as yet, not been consulted.

𝐓𝐀𝐗𝐈 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀 𝐁𝐈𝐓:

Is this TfL review of Credit Card conditions being conducted in secret?

Why have our trade representation not been consulted in relation to this review?

After receiving complaints from authorised CC system providers that many drivers are no longer using their fitted systems, TfL PCOs have been very visible at major drop off points taking details of drivers using personal hand held devices.

Surely, as sole traders, drivers should be able to use which ever system they prefer. No other business provider in London has to close because their Credit Card clearance provider is down!
