Four years ago after an expose’ in the Sunday Times newspaper from a Met inspector Neil Billany, TfLTPH said they would no longer accept DBS checks from Onfido, saying they were unsafe. Later in was alleged the company was actually in partnership with Uber.
TfL claimed the online checks carried out by the company were unsafe and said they would write to all 13k PHV drivers involved and get them to apply for genuine DBS checks from the official source. This did not happen and only 2,600 drivers were asked to re submit.
According to the App Drivers Couriers Union, TfLTPH have now mysteriously handed First Advantage (a shadowy company from the American Deep South) a monopoly DBS contract in London…and are insisting that all PHV drivers source their DBS from this one company.

ADCU posted on Twitter at the weekend saying:
BREAKING: @TfLTPH monopoly DBS check supplier @firstadvantage is hopelessly compromised!
FA is controlled by gig economy VC Silver Lake which is also a major investor in Didi Chuxing who are desperately seeking a London PHV operator license despite much political opposition.
This shadowy company from the American deep south was mysteriously handed a monopoly DBS contract in London by @TfLTPH?
How many dangerous criminals have they allowed to be licensed in London?
How many innocent people denied a livelihood?
Shouldn't TfL hold Silver Lake controlled @firstadvantage to the same standard of probity as @onfido? If not, why not?
