TfL say: London taxi fares to rise in bid to ensure enough cabs available to help women get home safely at night, but drivers are leaving the trade as they find their taking have dropped. Last week along the trade was 22 drivers less than the week previous. Only 16,480 now hold an all London green badge.

The new cab is great to drive but too bloody expensive- fuel and electric has gone through the roof yet the increase given by the TfL Board is effectively a wage cut as they’ve frozen the wage element.

Drivers get a 7.6 per cent increase to meet costs but no increase in wages during a cost of living crisis.

TfL has refused a request from the cab trade for a fare rise of 11.6 – closer to the rate of inflation.

𝐓𝐀𝐗𝐈 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀 𝐁𝐈𝐓:

Only 2 per cent of the Taxi trade, bothered to respond to TfL's consultation on fares.

With this amount of apathy, what hope is there for the future.

Do the remainder of the trade really believe a mythical knight in shinning armour is going to emerg and suddenly…everything is going to be fine???
