See video posted by a disgruntled Private Hire drivers who believes…."we are all in the same game".
The NPHTA has raised this issue up north, directly with Leeds Ciry Council since they used the same signage and they said:
“It includes private hire ….”

▪️ They should either amend the signage to state "taxi and private hire"
OR
▪️refund all bus lane penalties that have been issued to private hire drivers for bus lane contraventions!
Either the word ‘TAXI’ on signs means both, at all times…or it means hackney carriage only, at all times.
This type of argument is exactly what was predicted, and is the fault entirely of any council that does not have correct clear signage in place.

With all the hundreds of complaints made by Taxi drivers about PH vehicles using Taxi only charging points, you will have to go all the way back through hundreds of tweets, to the start of November, to find any warning put out on the TfL Twitter page @TfLTPH. ⬇️
“Private hire vehicles must never stop or wait in taxi ranks or taxi-only charging bays, or the driver could be subject to a Penalty Charge Notice & potentially licensing action”.
Just not good enough and PCOs haven’t been seen out enforcing these charging points.
