Apologies for being a bit late with this post but only just seen this sad news on another Taxi group
Author unknown.
It's sad to hear the news today that the café at Great Suffolk Steet has closed and apparently there's a note on the door from the receivers...
Of course somebody may step in and reopen the café, but there's every chance now that this will be the end of drivers being able to park here, use the facilities and have something to eat.
It's over two years since the Kings Cross Taxi Club closed at Camley Street and back then I posted saying that it'd be a great shame if the café at GSS was to close and join KXTC, the Royal Oak and the Granby Grill in the taxi trade history books.
It looks as though the day may now have arrived and central London may have lost the last proper dedicated stopping-off point where a cabbie could park for free, go to the toilet, fill up with diesel or have the cab washed and have a reasonably-priced meal.
