Although TfL have made no attempt to make a statement to drivers, it has come to our attention that two members of staff at the Staples Corner NSL inspection centre have tested positive for Covid virus and the centre has been closed until further notice.
A friend took a vehicle to the centre on Monday to attend a booked inspection and was told due to two staff contracting the virus, the centre was closed and to rebook.
The worst aspect of this situation is that TfL are not informing Taxi or PH drivers who have attended the centre in the week prior to the infection of staff.
TfL’s attitude is that as a driver is only in contact with an inspection operative for less than 15 minutes and both are wearing masks, the driver would be quite safe..... you couldn’t make it up.
The question needs to be asked, how many inspection staff at other NSL centres have been infected?
Should all centres be closed until further notice and perhaps another 6 months extension on current vehicle licenses would be a more sensible option!!!! A fellow cabby Jimmy Walker, pointed out on Facebook earlier today that as the Mayor has been given an extra years extension, then so should we cab drivers be given the same.
So, if you have attended the Staples Corner NSL inspection Centre, in the last week 4-8 January 2021, it may be wise to have a Covid test, just to be on the safe side.

Official Government advice:
If you have coronavirus symptoms or have been told to self-isolate
You should not work if you have coronavirus symptoms or you have been told to self-isolate. If you have coronavirus symptoms you should get a test as soon as possible. You should stay at home until you get the result
We’ve just received information from one of our Scottish Cabbies that an examiner at Edinburgh test centre has died from Covid apparently.
