Khan is facing mutiny on the Thames over claims he is favouring an Uber river service ahead of other operators. (Surely not)
Under pressure from Robert Courts, the transport minister, the London mayor’s office has opened a probe into a long-standing deal which apparently exempts Uber Thames Clippers... from paying landing fees at Transport for London-owned piers.
Robert Prentice, managing director of Crown River Cruises says this is anti-competitive. (Much like Uber's RideShare business that hasn't paid its fair share of UK tax giving it the edge over other UK PH operators.
Mr Prebtice said his company is being charged up to £2,200-a-day by the London Transport Authority, (which is chaired by Mr Khan) to use TfL piers.
Deputy mayor Heidi Alexander opened a probe in October following pressure from Romford MP Andrew Rosindell. But as she said when she first took the job, she knows nothing about transport and even less about the river services.
Sadiq Khan's City Hall is now facing criticism for taking too long to complete its investigation.
The question needs to be ask, is he given bias favouritism towards the company TfL recently refused to relicence over safety issues.
Why is the Uber operator exempted from paying landing fees ???
Is it because it is a dedicated commuter service, rather than leisure service and its stops are much shorter???
A spokesman for TfL said: “Commuter services require significant investment to cover operating costs in order to run a regular and frequent timetabled service from early morning to late in the evening.”
But they failed to answer why Uber has been given special treatment.
