Minicab Touting Off The Scale, As TfLTPH And The Met Turn A Blind Eye...by Jim Thomas

So when exactly do these regular enforcement operations take place?
Certainly not between 10pm and 5am Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Also

On Saturday Night, why were the Police, who were carrying out a stop and check point at the junction of Hawley Road and Chalk Farm Road, letting minicabs openly ply for hire, by forming a rolling rank on the newly appointed Licensed Taxi rank outside The Stables, Camden Lock?

Why were there no cab enforcement officers involved in this operation?
Surely the can't all be checking tickets on the late night bus routs.

Night after night, TfLTPH put out tweets proclaiming they are undertaking covert operations in the battle with the touts. Yet it has taken 13 years for TfL to get just the one conviction for illegally plying for hire.
According to TfLs own web site, in the first 3 months of 2013 (that's all the statistics available at the moment) they only managed to convict 6 drivers for touting.

Something isn't working at LTPH compliance.
The whole department is in need of a complete overhaul. We need to see a dramatic increase in these figures, TfLTPH's record on enforcement is scandalous.

Why have they been allowed to get away with this for so long?
What are the UTG doing about the situation?
What are their members getting for their money?
It certainly isn't protection from PH constantly flouting the law.

TfLTPH get away with it, because they have great a PR department. Just look at the recent scandal involving the £140 an hour hooker...now, almost forgotten.

Before you win any battle you have to win the PR battle.
So far we have been constantly defeated on all fronts in the PR stakes.

It's amazing, that the drivers representative org with the most members, millions in the bank, who have the greatest PR set up to promote itself and it's highly professional trade magazine, can't manage the PR to promote the trade that pays them so handsomely.

They should be appearing as regular studio guests on talk radio, praising the attributes of the "Best Taxi Service In The World".
Regular press releases to the media.
Hendy does it, Mason did it.
The public don't slate TfL for problems related to PH such as poor driving, poor knowledge, rape or sexual assaults.

The LTDA are the only ones who can afford to finance a positive PR image appertaining to the way the public perceive us, yet they just don't bother, mainly because they don't have to bother. The majority of their members say or do nothing to motivate them and just carrying on paying subs in silence.

Yes we have many enemies but the biggest of all is our own apathy.

All the trade orgs. publications are two pages of how great they are and the rest is garbage.

There are no longer any campaigns of note or exposing any of what we know of LTPH's severe shortcomings.

Effectively silenced by the Taxi Engagement Policy and the simple ruse of kidding them that they are part of the establishment .

Come on LTDA snap out of it!

The caliber of person TfL employ are incapable, incompetent and top down morally corrupt. I take exception to a sexual deviant holding high office in TfL who has done nothing to eradicate sexual predators from the streets of London !

As for Helen Chapman, if was running a hot dog stall it would be a threat to the public's safety. LTPH is out of control and in its present state, NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE... Helen Chapman needs to be held accountable for her gross incompetence NOW !!

We just can't Take the TfLTPH account seriously.

They will act on drivers over ranking at Paddington but ignore Swallow Street Arch.

They will move on drivers in Pread street but let touts illegally rank at all London venues, even on licensed taxi ranks

LTPH you are disgraceful

All the night work is being gobbled up the touts/scabs with the blessing of Sir Pervy Peter Hendy.
Swallow Street is a disgrace! I picked up a couple on Regent St who wanted to go to the Thistle Whitehall but bailed out after 5min because the traffic built up by the scabs parking up (who can blame them).
Its got to the point after 14 years in this job that I am now studying to get out of this trade! The reason I've come to this decision is because of LTPH have & are destroying this trade, you me and the indigenous born cab driver They HATE YOU. Also the LTDA are just as guilty sitting on their hands, talking about the good old days and counting the subs money, the are total sell outs. That magazine TAXI is only use is a cure for insomnia. The rest of the orgs can't get a seat at the table or are played off by Chapman & Mason. As for the UCG where are they? Haven't heard a thing from them since their Olympic demos. You see there is no one fighting the fight. Must dash got some studying to do!!

Oddy sold the trade out by accepting a seat on the TfL board. He is not there to represent either the trade or the LTDA. He was bough off when he, on behalf of his members, was running a hard hitting campaign to ban rickshaws. TfL have always wanted to license them and will now use the Law Commision to get this through.

His position on the board compromises his potition on the board of LTDA

He should be asked by the membership to resign from one or the other.

It should never have got this far.
We only have ourselves to blaim for being hoodwinked by Oddy and Co.

We've just had a great summer as with the troubles in the Middle East the Arabs have extended their stays.

Drivers are smiling in th shelters and on the ranks saying we've never had it so good.

Well now it's over

Very soon the same drivers who just went to work and didn't worry about what was going on, will be the same ones shouting we've never had it so bad.

Soon drivers will not be able to meet their commitments vehicles will be reprocessed and homes will be lost.
But it will be too lat to do anything about it.
