Why are TfLTPH so worried by Taxi drivers using unauthorised equipment that they’ve now taken to issuing unfit notices on Taxis?

Plus in a recent Twitter post (11am, 27/07/2023), they are threatening licensing action against drivers for using unauthorised machines to clear card payments.

The fact that some of the authorised equipment has a history of serious system outages (sometimes taking days to resolve, with drivers being unable to work for days) doesn’t appear to have been taken into account by TfLTPH.

At the same time, they are turning a blind eye to Private Hire vehicles, licensed in Wolverhampton, being used on a PH operators app, located in south London.

If this issue isn’t sorted out soon, we need both these issues to go to court, with the trade represented by all three trade orgs and two unions. Surely this is what drivers pay their subscriptions for!!!

TfLTPH appear to be holding our trade to ransom, while treating Private hire quite differently plus passing out record numbers of private hire drivers every week.

WE are told we must have authorised credit clearance systems fitted in rear, can’t use unauthorised systems and also, can’t use hand held units in the front.

Yet PH have no such restrictions.

This has been going on far too long and we need to know once and for all, why we are being treated different to Private hire……this isn’t right and it has to be sorted out soon.

Why are our orgs and unions silent on this ?????
