We've been informed by an insider, that the operation to catch drivers, has been expanded which leads to the question, WHY?

We know that the authorised CC machine providers have been hit by drivers refusing to use their expensive equipment in favour of cheaper rates from unauthorised providers…and have warned drivers that failure to use their machines could result in a stripout.
Again, this leads to the question, why are the cheaper providers not authorised by TfL?

Surely in these difficult times, TfL should be doing everything possible to support the finances of the best Taxi service in the world?
Instead, they are passing out new private hire drivers at a rate on knots.

Record amounts of new PH licenses are being issued (last month over 660 new driver licenses were issued in just one week, yet Taxi drivers are reporting hold ups with licence renewals and difficulty in getting appointment to get Taxis plated. Again WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

The amazing thing is, PH drivers dropping off passengers, can use any equipment they like, to process payments and don’t have to conform to using only TfL authorised machines, fitted in their vehicle!

Unfortunately, many drivers have been misinformed on social media, believing it’s their right as a sole trader, to use any device they like to process card payment, but the fact is, under the conditions of fitness (COF) of your licence… at present, you can only use TfL authorised equipment that’s fitted in the rear compartment of your Taxi.

So, please be very aware, when dropping off and taking card payments at main line stations or any other busy drop off point…..complete with body-cams, they are out to get you 👀.
