Leon Daniels when director or TfL told the GLA transport committee that Uber had a form of on-off insurance, saying they didn’t need full cover when not POB…We checked with the IBA and found there was no such policy 

He then told the committee that Uber had a customer complaints landline… then gave them Jo Bertram’s private phone number. 

Worst of all, he went on to say that drivers waiting for a licence renewal couldn’t work until they were in full receipt of the renewal if their old licence had expired. He also said that TfL has stopped issuing temporary licenses. 

Taxi Leaks editor Jim Thomas wrote to Sir Peter Hendy and pointed out the Transport Act 1985 section 17 subsection 7 which clearly states, your old licence stays valid until you are in receipt of your renewal. 

This prompted an apology from Hendy with a post script from Daniels admitting you could work. 

You couldn’t make it up!!!

After leaving TfL, he went on to become a director of Bolt an online PH app company…but now the big reward… he’s been made President of the CILT (UK).
