TfL, Westminster Council and the Met all turned a blind eye to the Tuk-Tuk, plying for hire on Westminster Bridge.
Reported dozens of times on the Met Police Twitter accounts, complaints were also made to TfLTPH and Westminster Council…Yet the Tuk-Tuk was left alone to carry on touting and breaking the law. Complainants were told by the Met in October that the vehicle was MOT’d, Taxed and Insured 🤷♂️
Finally this week, after dozens more complaints, the Police finally investigated and arrested the driver for touting and carrying Passengers with no insurance…and the vehicle was seized.
With a bit of luck, it will be crushed….but I wouldn’t hold my breath… it will probably be back on the bridge within a few day
🔹 𝐓𝐀𝐗𝐈 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀 𝐁𝐈𝐓:
This just doesn’t add up!!!
When this was first reported to the Met on their Twitter account in October, @MetCC replied that they’d checked it out and it was Taxed, MOT’d and insured.
But yesterday they tweeted that they had found it touting, carrying passengers and with no insurance.
Something doesn’t seem right here.
Did @MetCC lie?
We’ve asked them to explain and as yet, we’ve had no reply. 🤷♂️
🔸𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
What were TfLTPH and Westminster Council doing all this time?
Complaints were made by the dozen, but they just chose to ignore!
Apparently, the Met police gave both the Tuk-Tuk and the ice cream van parking tickets, but completely overlooked the touting aspects 🤷♂️
