Just been informed that we have had a complete victory on the 12 year lifetime letter from TfLTPH, with them admitting the letter sent out, was in fact wrong and misleading.
Well done to the The LCDC for sorting this out so quickly and getting a result.
Special thanks go to Grant, Alan, Dan.
And special thanks to Heather who worked tirelessly to help drivers worried and confused about the letterπ
The LCDC put out this tweet earlier today:
To any members that received the TPH letter re 12 year taxi maximum age. If you panicked and booked a overhaul with taxi only in 10th year. Can you call the office or just confused by letter please contact us.
Mind youβ¦.. Donβt expect a public apology from TfLTPH though.
But just to put your mind at rest, TfLTPH said they would contact NSL and any driver who panicked and booked an appointment unnecessarily, will be contacted and offered to change their appointment to the correct date π

Now, we just need TfLTPH to put out a statement apologising for misleading the trade with their tweet regarding licence renewals.
We need them to reread the Transport Act 1985 section 17(7) and rewrite the section of their published Taxi trade policy.
But we wonβt be holding our breathπ€«
