Uber offers more than €1 billion to buy Daimler/BMW's Freenow:

UBER OFFER TO BUYOUT FREENOW

Reuters) - Ride-hailing firm Uber (UBER.N) has offered more than 1 billion euros to buy Daimler (DAIGn.DE) and BMW's (BMWG.DE) joint mobility services company Freenow, Manager Magazin said today Wednesday.

While Daimler is ready to sell, BMW's Chief Executive Oliver Zipse is wavering about selling up, and is instead open to offering Uber a stake, Manager Magazin added.

So...all you Taxi drivers out there who are still working on the FreeNow app, how do you feel about working for Uber in the very near future?

Will you be offering your cut price services Uber, competing along with not only Kapten, but Uber drivers, just to get a few bums on your seats?

Or will you finally come to your senses and see what’s happening here with these apps, and delete them.

Apparently, your future as a viable trade is in your own hands.

It's make your mind up time.

TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT:

No one can say they didn’t see this coming!

Just one day after they won their licence renewal, Uber let it be known that they would be consider buying the on-line app FreeNow from Daimler/BMW.

Bloomberg reported back in September, Uber is reportedly considering buying the joint venture, after the coronavirus pandemic thwarted Free Now’s momentum with investors.

One of the sources suggested to Bloomberg that the hit of the coronavirus pandemic on ride-hailing companies, with widespread travel restrictions and a sharp drop in demand for the services, could challenge efforts to agree on a price.

The Bloomberg report came just one day after Uber, which faced regulatory scrutiny in London over safety failures, was granted an 18-month extension to operate in the city, with a judge ruling that he no longer believes the service poses a public safety risk.
