The London roads that will have a new 20mph speed limit from 2020

The London roads that will have a new 20mph speed limit from 2020

We've put together a list of the roads affected
Speed limits in Central London will be reduced down to 20mph on 5.5 miles of road from 2020 onwards.

Transport for London has confirmed that all roads within the Congestion Charge zone and Aldgate Gyratory will lower speed limits to 20mph, reflecting laws that are already in place in outer boroughs.

This is despite drivers taking to Twitter to complain about the new laws.

One person said the news should be "Accurately translated as...we are delighted to introduce the new 20mph speed limit in London as an underhanded way to amass millions in fines & help cut the mass overspend from TFL after years of mismanagement and incompetence."

The move comes as an effort to reduce the number of traffic-related deaths.

It means that from next year two fifths of London's roads will have 20mph speed limits.

And the fines if you break these are not to be joked about - you'll face a penalty of £100 at a minimum and three points on your licence if you break the speed limit.

Ok then, if they want a 20mph speed limit then implement it. However, if this doesn't apply to all forms & modes of road traffic, it must surely be deemed discriminatory & possibly legally challenged?

To explain: cars, lorries, motorbikes, buses & .... taxis, will all have to adhere to 20 mph & failure to do so will result in damnation - accompanied by a hefty fine. However, no doubt the saviours of the planet (you know, the Lycra clad, colour blind, pedalling salvationists & not forgetting their e-scooter & skateboard chums of the same ilk) will escape all forms of punishment & be lauded.

The trouble is, these aforementioned characters can & will exceed the 20 mph limit. They do so now, with impunity & even endanger their soulmates in the embankment cycle lane as they 'time trial' at present. And if you think any of these structures, moving at more than 20 mph can't do serious damage, then think again - as many pedestrians are finding out recently. (I know there are some that obey the laws & are respectful of others and the next time they both meet up, they should congratulate one another.)

Seriously, though it is now getting beyond a joke with the bias towards drivers. There needs to be some identification put upon these 'pseudo eco individuals' ASAP. They can then be traced for numerous offences, just as drivers can be & it'd be a lot easier to do (I bet the individual in the city earlier this week would have been apprehended by now, if so).

AND BEFORE THE CRY GOES UP THAT CAR DRIVERS CAUSE A LOT MORE DAMAGE, JUMP LIGHTS AND DO UNIMAGINABLE THINGS .....CORRECT! HOWEVER, THE MEANS TO TRACE THEM ARE AVAILABLE, THEY DON'T ALWAYS GET CAUGHT BUT THE SYSTEM ALLOWS A POSSIBILITY OF PROSECUTION, FAR, FAR GREATER, THAN IF THERE WASN'T ANY IDENTIFICATION.
WHEREAS THESE URBAN KNIGHTS OF THE ROAD, KNOW THEY CAN BASICALLY DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE WITH ALMOST NIL IMPOSSIBILITY OF GETTING CAUGHT!

The time has now come to licence & have the means to identify all road (& pavement) users. Only a fool would fail to realise this but then again, fools cannot realise that even a small object, travelling at speed can be lethal - I don't think they paid enough attention in physics at school!
