Van driver ploughs into muslim worshippers in Findsbury Park and it's all over the TV and papers for weeks....Uber driver purposely mows down pedestrians in Exhibition Road.....and there's a media blackout!
Third party multinationals like Ford, Shell, VW, Volvo are now queuing up, waiting to take a slice of our everyday business, sucking the blood away from our life forms. Every Tom Dick And Harry has an idea how to procure our livelihood.
Given the green light by TfL, hop on hope off shuttle from Ford.
BWM’s DriveNow and Daimler’s Car2Go services to join together.
The press and TV media are of course, in the 'swindle' as are our licensing regulator and even our Prime Minister. How come she can tell Europe to Save Uber, but we can’t talk about it to Mike Brown...how come our orgs in the New a United Trade Group, stood for this???
Everyone seems to have vested interests in pulling down the best, most professional Taxi service in the world. Instead of being proud of our 365 years of excellent service, they continue to force feed fake news into the media for public consumption. Sean Paul Day warned this would happen months ago, did no one take any notice???
Sean said:
The Secretary of State and the Department of Transport ignore human rights violations in favour the market.
Whilst the political drive in the USA is forcing Uber to recognise labour rights, and resistance in Europe shows no sign of abating, Transport for London, at the behest of the U.K. Government are ploughing ahead to amend regulations to accommodate Uber in its entirety.
Uber's history of violations and the protests knows no boundaries. For Uber, no money is bad money!
Read the who,e of Sean's post here:
Let's not forget the way TfL PCO's were used to protect Uber image when an Uber driver got 12 years for rape. PCO's were confiscating copies of the Taxi Magazine left on Taxi rear window shelves.
Let's not forget about the 13,000 fake DBS certificates swept under TfLs dirty carpet for seven months. Even now, only 2,600 have reapplied and the rest are still working on fake documents. Could have major convictions for violence, drug offences and even sexual predators.
#UberRape App was illegal from day one!
TfL Director Leon Daniels
Lied to the GLA transport committee on multiple occasions regarding Uber's landline and their non-existent on/off insurance.
No Friends In The National Media:
No mention in the media of the wonderful work done by Mike Hughes and Poppy Cabs, or Dean Thomas with his warm clothing appeal and regular feeding the homeless outside Charing Cross Police Station.
No mention of the Taxi War veterans charity trips, the Underprivileged Children’s outings, the trips to Disneyland Parish with seriously sick children.
One seriously rotten apple in our 365 years, its in the headlines for a month.
This onslaught has been unintentionally supported by our trades weak representation, not helped by continual infighting.... and they wonder why no one's signing on to the Knowledge.
The time for just getting on with it ...is over
The time for waiting to see what’s gonna happen next week, next month, next year... is over
The time for sitting back and letting others do the fighting... is over.
This wonderful trade of ours is at a crossroads, with two choices:
Forget about our wonderful tradition and 365 years of history....and lay down and die!!!
Or stand together, backs against the wall, and fight.
Diplomacy and good behaviour isn't working
Enough is enough... It's time to get down and fight dirty.
Make no bones about it...the ITA's five days of demos hit TfL hard in the wallet.
It couldn't have come at a worst time for them, as they announce a massive £400m deficit in their budget.
Let's send them this message:
WE AIN'T GOING DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT.

The media is all owned by the same people as Uber, it is no longer independent, it’s a sad time in the United Kingdom when we have a Parliament which is no longer FIT FOR PURPOSE AND SHOULD BE DISSOLVED, but all is not lost as nobody is above the law of the land, so keep fighting you may be pleasantly surprised ( REMEMBER ITS YOUR RIGHT )
It's really great Taxi Leaks has decided to take direct action. Jim after reading this I am up for the first action. Can't wait for the first action. Real united action at last!
It will be the usual 1,000 have the back bone to fight for this trade. While the other 23,000 say it be all right or I do it next time, or I let some one else do it for me it won’t make any difference me goi g will it? Then we have the trade org saying we don’t want to up set TFL or the usual one it's all happing inthe back ground, we been hearing that for the last 6 yearsa or moor. We still waiting to see what has happened In the back ground? We have tryed the political route all that done is we have been pissed on from a very great hight.
As I said yesterday I just go to work now. When I see a United trade driver trade org and an end to the endless inn fighting by the trade org/rep I’m inn. As has been said it’s time to stand together and fight or apply for your PH licence or look far a job.
Its been years this trade has been suffering with buses courier rickshaws even scooters pick up your car every tom dick and harry . now government corruption how much money do they think their is In a to b one or more of these bubbles has to burst big time soon more people need to be made aware of the corruption in this sorry country. Hopefully in time we will win this battle but hopefully needs help please unite and never give up.
so, if the 5 days of DEMOS, was so successful, why wasn't it kept going, until tfl caved-in?
Just to let you know Dave there are only just over 18,000 green badge drives the numbers have fallen and no one is signing up for the Knolwedge as it’s a dieing trade and I don’t think yellow badge driver are that bothered
Alan Wicker :
Your comment seems totally disingenuous to those fantastic drivers who gave up so much time out of their working week, while others carried on working.
The five days of demos were financially crippling to many involved, but they did it anyway and are willing to do it again in a few weeks.
If more driver get involved we can do it in shifts (as bills have to be met, mortgages have to be paid).
ITA spokesperson.
Block the bus garages. Vauxhall one way would be a piece of piss!
Going to war without those drivers who wish to work rather than fight, is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you leave behind is a load of noisy baggage.
They complain about protests being ineffective or detrimental to pur public relationship - but translated means "I'm working while others fight my battles."
Those 5 days of protest, made the radio, TV and papers for 5 consecutive days.
Those 5 days hurt TfL financially - in most cases buses were stood down during the protests, or rerouted into the chaos caused by the road closures.
I would rather stand with 500 staunch drivers, than rely upon 20k sleepers who are too mean or to afraid to protest. They're not worth thinking about - they have no stomach for the fight, thetefore have no say in what we do, where we do it, or why we do it. Why waste my time explaining to those who are looking for excuses, not answers.
Ypu are 100% right in your article - fight or hold your manhoods cheaply.
