London Taxi Driver Patrick O'Dowd, speaks out and gives his views on the desperate situation this trade currently finds itself in.
Patrick will be posting a series of video blogs over the next few weeks.
In this episode, Patrick talks about the power of social media and how important it can be if used correctly by drivers, in a united fight back against our Machiavellian licensing authority (TfL).
This is a heart felt statement of fact from a Taxi driver, who describes himself as a "Londoner Irishman" cabby whose forefathers were all cabbies.
A must watch.

Ask your self why people don't trust the unions what have they achieved ?????? maybe the odd rank here and there You would probable be better spending your money on the lottery each month the ones that do care about our trade are the ones who don't bang on about you being in a union Ehail is illegal only black cabs can ply for hire so why are uber still getting away with it are you telling me the so called trade orgs don't have a case ????? Are you also telling me the so called Bob oddy Dose not know what's going on Maybe if people see results and unity they just might join a union
I've got Twitter - makes no sense to me whatsoever - I don't understand how it works at all - me and thousands of other cabbies - we need educating
If you can text, you can definitely tweet.Like a lot of things the perception is harder than the reality. In the early days of twitter they used to have little sessions in the Oak or the KXTC at set times. You turn up,ask questions, get shown how to use it and off you go.
Maybe a good idea to put those on again...I'd be happy to come along and help, and I know twitter faces like "Fitztaxi" would give up his time too.
Whaddya say Jim?
Twitter, Russell Howarth, trade orgs with thousands of members, the power of social media, incompetent regulator, irregularities in licensing. But NO mention of CORRUPTION.
Go on twitter and read what the trade ors say. They say not what they'll do for the thousands not in a trade org; but they will tell you what they want. MONEY to pay themselves with!
There's nothing new in what Pat say's. He's obviously a committed individual, I sincerely hope Pat's enthusiasm and ability isn't exploited by the 50p a day mob.
Pat has a quality that the bottom feeders thrive on.
Be nice if you could actually see him! My view is that org officials are milking it. The games already dead, they are squueezing the last drops out of it under the pretence of fighting for members, they are topping up pension pots etc. it's up to cabbies themselves to fight end of.

Be nice if you had the bottle to put your name on your post.
Patrick's video was done by himself and he is a cabby not a cameraman.
As for org reps milking it, most don't get paid a penny!
Those that do get less than they could earn driving their taxis.
This is why we are not getting the best representation, because drivers like you won't pay people to do the job properly.
You want every thing for free.
If you think that a few hundred taxis blocking the roads are going to save the trade, you are seriously deluded .
The london cockneys went the red phone box and red route master bus went the pidgeons in Trafalgar Square went the old buildings went replaced by glass towers ,all the bobbies on the beat went replaced by CCTV , the English people went replaced by diversity ,now it's are turn to be pushed out of London and be replaced with the Toyota prirus. .....
Hi Mark1967
I think this idea has legs.
It came up a while ago and there was talk of trying to get shelter keepers involved to let groups use huts when not in use.
I think the oak and camley street will do nicely as well and I would certainly volunteer to give up a couple of hours a week to help.
As you know if in's it hard to get into town early so would prefer the late night shift.
Jim Thomas.
