Letters To The Editor : Demos Need New Message-Stop The Corruption, Richards Bilk and Katie's Letter In The Sun

   Great effort . Great Protest.

Very little media coverage and unclear message reported by those that did bother to report something.

Asking TFL to regulate properly would have been like asking Saddam Hussein to support women's rights and do some charity work. Or like asking Boris Johnson to be honest.

It is just not going to happen.

People need to understand that TFL will NEVER act reasonably for the simple reason, they can get away with not doing so and no one has any statutory or regulatory powers over Boris Johnson or TFL to challenge them.

The GLA have clearly stated that TFL has not acted properly, yet no action is taken because they have no power to take action.

The only way that things will change is if the corruption is exposed.
The only way this will happen is if it is the clear message given at protests.

If you need to be convinced that TFL have no intention of changing for the better then listen to the LIES of Garrett Emmerson.

He continues to spout absolute nonsense and all the time he does, it creates an element of doubt in peoples minds-

"Is this just greedy cabbies wanting more money or is there something seriously wrong?"

All the time the media report the lies of TFL people are just as likely to believe the latter rather than the truth.

The message needs to be-

EXPOSE THE CORRUPTION.

Any other message gets deliberately reported inaccurately by the media or not reported at all.

CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION

IF THAT IS THE MESSAGE IT CAN ONLY BE REPORTED AS THAT. IT WILL BE SUPPORTED AND UNDERSTOOD BY THE PUBLIC BECAUSE EVERYONE HATES CORRUPTION.

Richards Bilker:

Had a guy last night do a runner from my cab.
Rang police he tried to get on a bus then hailed another cab and got in .l told the cabbie he's knocked me he jumped out of that cab and ran off from that one l followed him up the road .old bill turned up .they questioned me as it was my fault .they rang the police station to find out if it was civil or criminal .

I got out the abstract of law and told them what to nick him for they threatened to nick me and my laws where out dated . Eventually they nicked him. Went to Paddington green they had to let me in around the back to make statement as it was closed .the jibber was taken to belgravia to be processed .

Get phone call from police sat midday saying he's not known to us he has a solicitor on way he will get a caution and then it will be a civil matter end of.

NOT SO l ring belgravia nick and ask to speak to the custody sargeant and tell him here's my cabbies terms and conditions tell the thief and his solicitor that if he don't pay me .l will get in touch with the Japanese paper he works for as l took a screenshot of his press pass with his card and photo on and l will put on twitter that l picked him up at a notorious gay haunt off his trolley on drugs.

I have just picked up 50 pounds cash off his solicitor at belgravia nick.
Be careful out there.

It took a Russian tv channel to report TFL woefully inadequate policing of PH laws.

Our main media channels should be ashamed. It's clear that TfL had a hand in the news blackout.
Perhaps they would make good targets in the up and coming future protests. We could target their OB and offices.

MAGIC ROUNDABOUT DEMOS EVERY SINGLE DAY ACROSS LONDON UNTIL THEY ARE EXPOSED AND THE MEDIA REPORTS THE TRUTH

Anonymous said...

With limited resources the ladies did exceptionally well. At least they have genuine passion towards the cause. Their efforts put the 50p a day mob to shame, most out here want their money's worth and aren't prepared to accept a two Bob job from false pretenders.

WELL DONE LADIES...

Some of your hubbies might not be proud to say they're Cab Drivers anymore; but I do know they are proud of you!

Your so right
And that why I left the RMT and joined an org who are willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with drivers and fight,
All my mates have now left the RMT, who seem bent in self destruction.
Surely the members must know that the leadership is piss poor.
Stop paying this shower and join and org who will fight before it's too late.

During the last tube strike London was gridlocked for the day.
Uber were taking advantage and surge charging everyone yet the media barely reported that fact.
Their mercenary strategy will obviously apply no matter what the circumstance ; it could be a serious accident , civil unrest and protests or a terrorist incident . They will suck the most money out of the situation as they possibly can.

The media have persistently and deliberately either reported the story about the London Taxi protests in favour of TFL or Uber or not reported it at all.

Taxi Drivers should announce that there will be a massive protest this Thursday to coincide with the Tube strike.
This would have a massive and serious impact.

It could also be announced that the Taxi Protest will only be stopped if the media report the full and true story of utter corruption by Boris Johnson and TFL.

If they don’t the Taxi strike on Thursday will stop the capital completely for a day.

JUST DO IT!

We don't need trade leaders and their pointless lame ideas. We need direct action, NOW!
During the last Underground strike nothing moved, I regretted even commiing out.

Carpe Diem brothers.

SEIZE THE DAY 👊

Learned by history.
The roundabout demos were heralded as a great idea. But when drivers put it out twice last week, no one turned up.
You need the orgs to get behind any protest big or small

The night hits on clubs are different
Drivers are getting work, so it becomes attractive.

Anyone who thinks they can organise a demo in the fly, are only fooling themselves.

FAB 7:33PM Let's leave it to the:

Thunderbird International Day of Rescue... Thunderbirds are go.
This is the kind of crap 50p a day buys!

Typical cab driver greed to rubbish a good idea for a handful of cash. Enjoy the bucket of slop it will buy you; in a few months time many will be eating from dustbins!

There's no need to be disingenuous, especially anonymously.
What's the point of calling a demo, to which no one turns up to.
History has taught us one thing about demos, daytime hit squads don't work,

With all trade orgs (except one) pulling for action, any demo called by them will be heavily advertised and attended.

But hey, don't take my experienced word for it, you go and knock yourself out, driving round in circles on your own.

Don't bother to reply....just prove me wrong!

Pessimism at its best...
Enjoy the long wait for action!

So why post your critsism after posting the article and comments praising the Ladies from Save our Taxis taking the initiative. Hypocrite!

Editorial said...

Not hypocritical at all
The ladies planned this demo for months. It was well organised and well executed.

You don't think this can be achieved over night

I'm not saying wait for months till parliament resists, most orgs are meeting members this week and will form a united plan that suits every one. I realise the clock is ticking but it still has to be done right.

Posters have to be financed/printed/ distributed.
Only small %age of drivers in twitter, good for hits on ranks, but no good for organised demo.

UCG meeting Monday night to vote on reinstating #enough demos.

We will put out result as soon as we get them
Mustn't be impatient.

Nothing stopping you organising your own protest
It gets very lonely driving round the Hogarth roundabout on your own though

Anonymous said...

I disagree that you need the org S (plural)behind a demo;

The only org that has really taken any direct action recently is the UCG

It seems the LTDA want to wait until October for the court case (if that ever happens)
and the LCDC want to wait until September when the GLA will again say that TFL is woefully inadequate and then do nothing.

There are no other orgs worth mentioning

you maybe just need the UCG to back it or a twitter flash mob.

The roundabout demo that was trialled last week was early in the morning and at Heathrow and many drivers may not have known ?.
There are many many drivers who are not on the internet and not on twitter so they would not have known.

If a demo is called now for Thursday surely it could have an effect?
It certainly would get immediate media attention and wouldnt take much to have an impact; the roads will be gridlocked anyway if the tube strike goes ahead

It is positive that people are passionate about this issue.
Its important to realize the urgency of the situation.

It may be too late already ; every week hundreds of new PH licenses which could be shared between other unlicensed drivers; they only have to hand over the phone and car to the next man on shift and you have a couple of thousand new drivers every week (600 licensed and 3 times that not)

I accept that demos have to be organized but what was the point in taking months to have a well organized demo and not getting a clear message to the media ?
Good Luck to all concerned ; I have a feeling you will need it

You could well be right about the other orgs, there was an all trade meeting last week, although one Union didn't turn up and the other threw their toys out the pram (allegedly). Won't know for certain till Monday night.

However, personally I believe we would do an incredible amount of damage to our reputation if we protest on Thursday as the public will then see Uber as their only option. They may even see them as some sort of saving grace.

As I say, I will know more on Monday night.

I believe a clear message was put out to all national and independent press and TV agencies

Unfortunately they decided not to put out our message, such is the power of TfL.

Although articles about the protest did make it into the press
There are also TV 4 interviews from RT and London Live available on our YouTube Channel.

The idea is to tell the media there will be a demo on Thursday to protest at their failure to report the corruption of TFL/Johnson.
If they then report it there will be no need to actually have one on Thursday.

The message from the demon on Friday ; one lady was saying in the interview that there is no work and that drivers only get a 35 job and then wait an hour on the rank.
Another was saying we want TFL to enforce the rules (which will never happen)

The message has to be clear (corruption) and there has to be a clear objective( for the Government / Home Secretary to step in and for an immediate suspension of improper TFL Actions)

Editorial said...

And your going to organise and finance this without help from any org

Well good luck with that

Anonymous said...

You don't like to hear the truth do you. The trade orgs do not posses the intelligence to organise anything of value. Having said that neither do you!

Editorial said...

I've never claimed to be an organiser.

If you don't like the trade orgs...tell them, not me
Taxi Leaks is not, repeat not a trade org.

Taxi leaks is a Taxi news service and that's it.

'What I can't understand is why are the Knolwedge excaminers making the Knolwedge even harder ?????? You can leave a point on the left if it's under a bridge and set it down if it's on a hill plus now when you get your rec you have to learn an extra 840 points now if this is true will this be an end to the Knolwedge and the start of a mini Knolwedge for PH I've also been told there a 40% drop in people doing the Knolwedge but a big increase in people becoming PH drivers so will this mini Knolwedge lead to a drop in PH drivers I hate to say this but I think TFL already know what they are going to do we will end up like New York A flood of yellow cabs Please tell me I'm wrong Jim

Len - if your out there we need to be back on the streets - we are dying - tell Tom Watson we are sorry - I know he's a great bloke but the parliamentary process is too slow - we need government intervention ASAP at TFL - Emmerson fired followed by a suspension of the taxi and private hire dept and a proper parliamentary investigation of this TFL department.

PHV Driver ... I think the job of cleaning up all this mess has been given to the Gmb union. All these unions are in bed with politics and buisiness, It gives Cameron and co a few months to decide what they want to happen, they tell the judge what they want and he or she will make it law, this way no one has blood on their hands, tfl , boris, Cameron, uber, all walk away looking good.Lets just hope that they think of our lives when they decide what is going to happen to all of us, personally I looking for way out, I think we are all finished, you can never compete against the imargrants who will work for peanuts and a company car, face it , there are thousands of new phv drivers waiting at Calais, I'm surprised TFL and Uber are not out there signing them up. God help us all... And best of luck to all you taxi drivers, keep up the pressure !!!!!!!!!
