Dear Jim, after reading your post on the scandalous state of affairs regarding licence renewaIs, I would like to offer some advice to drivers and hope this helps them get back to work before their old licence expires. But it's disgusting and unacceptable that we should be treated like this.
Personally, I have been waiting three and a half months for my CRB and have spent the last 3 days chasing DBS, TFL and the POLICE, writting emails and making phone calls. This is the information I have gathered so far.
Both the DBS and TFL are NOT interested. The driver MUST do the leg work or WILL NOT get his/her CRB. I've been informed that the Police are 3 to 4 months behind on CRB checks.
It is therefore up to the Driver, after 60 working days, to send an email to cecdisclosure@police.co.uk and also follow up with phone call to 02072305141. (This is Number of CEC Dept) or you can write a letter to;

When phoning CEC if NO answer, CALL New Scotland Yard on, 02072301212 and ask if they could email CEC Dept.
The driver MUST do the work as the DBS won't help.
Ive finally managed to get through to CEC and they have pulled my file. I now have to call them Wednesday for the result.

My badge renewal took 4 And a half months it should have been ready before Christmas was only thanks to The LTDA, that I was able to work over Christmas and new year , finaly got my renewal mid Febuary .. .
Horace, what is the secret that the LTDA pulled off for you
Did they explain that you could work under the transport act
Have they got a special arrangement just for their members
Please enlighten us all
Special arrangement my A**E, they just chase up but again YOU must do the legwork first, Some are even getting a DBS from another organisation and using that.
It like many other issue concerning TfL need a public enquiry so that Daniels, Hendy, Mason and yes even Oddy are their under oath.
Anonymous 530am. I'm not saying the LTDA are able to work a Miricale , but they seem to understand the PROCTCOL . The offical procedure and system of rules that govern the taxi trade better than the TFL. In my case my crb checks had been done and it was just being held up by Totally failing london...
Well the Horace, if your cRB check had been done, then under the transport act and according to TfL you can work until new licence comes. You didn't need the LTDA to tell you that....any one could have told you .
11 06 anonymous Doing 15 hours a day for the minimum wage I haven't got time to to read up on transport acts lol plus loads of penalty charges The LTDA works for me.

It's not quite that black and white.
Some garages won't let you rent a cab after expiry date.
It's a joke been waiting 3 months my licence expired 1 month ago need to feed my self and my family. Thanks for the information why did not the dbs give this information to me?
