Taxi Trade's Meeting With TfL and Shard Management.

Press release 28th April 2024: 18:30

Taxi trade meet with TfL and Shard Owners.

We have just come back from a meeting at the Shard.

The hotel wants to give us one space on the forecourt.

Tfl red routes do not want to give us the two spaces outside the front door.

In 3 years time when the road reopens, TFL are going to give the 4cab rank back to buses, leaving us with one cab on the forecourt.

We feel one cab in the corner is out of the way.
Who is going to see us hiding in the corner.  It's imperative that we get the set down bays.

LCDC @MrMojo1966
Ends.

Looks like the Demo will still go ahead.

Why are the LCDC telling us this now!

Surely they as members of the Joint ranks committee should have sorted it out?

So it seem the membership have paid them stand down pay to attend the Joint ranks committee and sort it out, not a waste of time meeting with TfL, not to sort it out.

Quality representation? You 'avin a laugh Grant!

To be honest, I wouldn't have expecting any other result from TfL

The Shard, at least offered one space.
TfL offered nothing

TfL won't be too bothered over the Shard opening and that's why we have to escalate this dispute to include TfL as much as possible.

We must demo at strategic sites which greatly affect TfL and there buses.

Look at the success the Aldwych demonstrations had in achieving a PH consultation. Although the consultation like any consultation with TfL is a complete waste of time.

We must keep up the Demos until we get a proper Rank at the Shard and TfL start to enforce their own legislation in regards to the illegal operation of PHVs.

The RMT are very quiet about support for the Shard Demo.
WHY?

Who has called the Shard demo?

If so have they requested support from the RMT?

Member did attend the flash mob on Friday?

It really is unbelievable.

They can shut St Thomas St for years to facilitate development but as soon as it re-opens, it is considered so important that we cannot even have a poxy rank there.

Bullshit!

Another point.

Us, our customers and our businesses have suffered due to the closures/disruption in this area due to all the construction work, and now they are trying to deprive us of any share in the economic benefit, and they're depriving the public of a legitimate transport option.

More bullshit!

I hope we give it to them good and hard over this.

Too little, Too late.

Why did not the joint ranks mob pick this up?

Still no answer as to who is organising the demo?
